Hi! Welcome, blog hoppers, to the first ever Cookin' up Creations "Winter Wonderland of Embellishments" Blog Hop. We at Cookin' up Creations thought it would be a great idea to focus on Embellishments this month, as we have had lots of generous "embellishment" sponsors ....and we want to share with you.

Along the Hop, you'll come across Challenges, Questions & Tutorials on different ways to create and use embellishments. If a blog requires you to complete a challenge, then please upload your completed challenge into the Embellishment Blog Hop Album before the end of the hop on January 22nd, 2010. (All participating "blog hoppers" will need to register in the gallery - don't worry, it is quick and easy.)

The Cookin' up Creations Blog was your 1st stop, and you should have come here from Amy's blog, Little Treasures. You are now at the 4th stop of our hop!

I have a flower tutorial for you. I have been fortunate enough to take a couple of classes from Jenni Bowlin, and use her crepe paper ribbons to make these flowers:

Here's how she taught us to do it:

You'll need a scrap of cardstock, a circle punch (I used one that I think is 1.5 inch, but really you could just cut a circle by hand), a tape runner, and Jenni's crepe paper ribbon.

Run some adhesive around the edge of the circle,

cut your crepe paper ribbon to about 18 inches, and start pleating it. You can pleat it very precisely or rather messy (like I did). Once you have pleated it a little bit, stick it to your circle.

Continue pleating and sticking until you've gone all the way around.

I then repeated those steps to make another layer, but you could stop here and embellish the center and be done.

I used a Hambly journaling bit, plus a paper flower and a Making Memories Vintage Findings button to embellish the center of mine.
.

Here is another view of the finished product. These also look GREAT with a little glitter around the edges! And, seriously, it only took me a few minutes from start to finish. It goes much quicker than you might think!

My challenge to you is to create a crepe-paper flower using the tutorial above. Upload your project to the Blog Hop gallery at Cookin' Up Creations and I will do a random draw for a small prize. You'll need to include your email address in the description part, so I can notify you!

In order to be eligible to win a blog hop prize, you must comment at each stop. So, leave a comment here and tell me how you would use the flower I made. I will do another random draw and the winner (if the winner is a follower of my blog) will get the flower!

So: leave a comment and follow my blog and you might get this flower in the mail. If you actually make a flower like it, you might win a surprise prize from me. And you might win big in the HOP! Your next stop is Stace's blog: Pieces of Me. When you are finished, don't forget to go back to the Cookin' Up Creations blog to post that you are done!

I hope you have fun and win a prize!

Those flowers are super cute. I think they would look really cute on a romantic layout. In a pastel color they would be cute on a baby girl layout. Thanks for sharing your work.
